While developments in AI and robotics are creating a more automated, technocratic world, coding and applied skills, such as those emphasized in STEM disciplines won’t be the only skills we’ll need. The future will depend just as much, if not more, on soft or non-applied skills, or what others call human skills. For this reason, experiential learning (including co-op and WIL) programs must create meaningful pathways to social/emotional development and career success.
