Lalita Kines serves as Interim Manager of Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement at the University of Victoria. She is from the K'ómoks Nation on her father's side and French, English, Irish, Scottish and Swedish on her mother's side. She has an undergraduate degree in Adult Education from the University of the Fraser Valley, and an MEd from Simon Fraser University, with a focus on curriculum design and anti-racism. Lalita is passionate about Indigenous student support and improving educational experiences for Indigenous students and communities. As part of the office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement team at UVic, she strives to create an extraordinary and culturally-responsive environment, where students, faculty and community members experience the university as a welcoming, supportive and safe environment in which Indigenous values, language and culture are evident.
